interesting close up... from far away.
I just thought this was a cool shot, of a thistle from up in the mountains. The thing is, I didn't take my 'normal' lens that does a much better job of shots like this, so all I had was my 55-200.
I was surprised that it turned out as good as it did, seeing as how I took it from about 6 feet away heh. The background is all blurred out, but what ever bush / light patch that was behind it did a nice job of highlighting the flower I thought.
anyway, I just wanted to post this one up here, there is one or two more shots I thought turned out pretty nice from that trip... oh, in addition to the 70 billion I took of my nephew and niece who are adorable.
here's a link to the slide show - I know I need to 'cull' through a bunch of the boring 'bushes' and such, that were interesting at the time, but lose some of their appeal when placed in a slide show with several similar shots heh.
anyway, this is the link to the flickr set:

Wade, these are some great pictures! I'm especially partial to the ones of my kidders. But the thistles and sceneray are nice too. You made that place look much prettier than it even was, great work!
Wow Wade--That was about a half hour of pure enjoyment---sitting here going through this woderful slide show! That's some very TYPCIAL "Idaho Beauty"---wouldn't you say?? It shows the dry, almost barren side hills, then gets down to the gorgeous tree-covered river banks. And those mountainous cliffs are SO beautiful!
I think you forgot to mention that you had to climb a huge hill yourself, just to TAKE these pictures--and that was a memorable experience for you, I'm sure! Aren't those moon-over-the-river shots spectacular??--taken on your midnight ride home.
That dusty little Spencer guy had such a fantastic time getting DIRTY like that. He was SO HAPPY to get to play in that dirt! Cute pictures of Sammie, too. Thanks for posting this. Love, Mom
